PBSA appoints Mohammad Yousuf as coach of snooker training camp
Wednesday, June 27th, 2012 2:25:58 by Zeeshan GoharPakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) recently made a huge shift in their policies and appointed the former International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Champion, Mohammad Yousuf as the new coach and commandant of the snooker training camp in Islamabad.
The veteran potter will guide and coach emerging potters of the country to compete in international standard matches across the world. The new snooker training will commence this month in Islamabad and Yousuf is all set to train the young talent.
The rookies who will be training under the guidance of the veteran cueman are Hunain Aamir and Mohammad Majid. Both of these new youngsters will be representing Pakistan in the upcoming IBSF 2012 World Under-21 Snooker Championship at the Wuxi Sports Center in Wuxi, China.
While speaking to the News, the PBSA president Alamgir Anwar Shaikh said, “Yousuf will be the coach as well as the commandant of the camp to train Hunain and Majid, who will represent Pakistan at the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship 2012 scheduled to be staged in Wu Xi, China, from July 14 to 22. It’s a new beginning. Yousuf may have had stormy relationship with the PBSA but that’s history now.”
He added, “We have had cordial relations with him in the recent past, holding him in high esteem, and we look forward to having a long-term working relationship with him although the present assignment is a rather brief one. It’s a very nice and appreciative gesture on part of Yousuf to agree to train the two youngsters at a token honorarium.”
The experienced Yousuf is still playing in the national snooker circuit and has performed impressively in his season run. In the recently finished Jubilee Insurance Third National Ranking Snooker Championship 2012, the legendary cueist participated and made his way into the quarter-final stage of the tournament after putting up an excellent snooker show in the round robin formatted group matches.
