The best tablets that money could buy (2012) – Part 4

There are more Android tablets out for sale than anybody can count and to stand out of the horde is a big task. TF700 is by far the best that has all things covered from energy efficiency to sharp display. Wireless connectivity is again better than any other Android tablet sans the lack of 3G or 4G.

The 1,920×1,200-pixel resolution is stunning and makes the text look nearly paper-like. Videos are crisper and the frame rate has been improved. Touch sensitivity is better than any other tablet in the market, including Asus’ own breed of slates.

The Transformer Prime had some issues with the GPS reception. Asus addressed the problem with sheer intelligence. Keeping the aluminium body intact, the company covered the inch-long GPS transmitter with plastic for seamless input/outlet of satellite signals.

The Transformer line has a trademark optional dock available for $150. The dock does not only provide a laptop-lookalike keyboard and mouse combo but also extra battery and USB, Ethernet HDMI ports. The keys are a little cramped up but it does the job for those who live on content writing. The dock turns the device into a proper laptop, or an ultrabook for that matter.

It comes with Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed and has NIVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor running four cores.

The second Asus tablet making the list means that the company is running a hot streak in the mobile communications industry. Asus tablets are becoming ubiquitous in the market because of the elegant looks and light weight.

The Transformer Prime was the first slimmest tablet in the market, breaking record of iPad 2. It was the first to incorporate NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor with intense graphic-card. Though the Transformer line remains deprived of the 3G or 4G technology, WiFi makes it up for the wireless communications.

It has the slimmest aluminium body at 0.33-inches and is light-weight as well. Unlike Transformer Pad TF700 it does not come with ICS pre-installed. However, it is upgradable to ICS, because of the top-end specs inside.
