Islamabad: (Thursday, June 28, 2012) The National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways has directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to launch an inquiry into the land scam against the former military officials.
The committee also asked the NAB to probe into Royal Palm Oil Club case and privatization of the railways schools.
The decision was taken by the committee after it was convened and presided by committee head Ayaz Sadiq here today.
While taking notice of the rail engine oil theft worth Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 million between Lahore and Rawalpindi, the committee directed NAB to probe into the matter.
Appearing before the committee, the Secretary Railways informed that until security assurance is provided by the Punjab Government, local trains would remain suspended.
NAB, responding to the queries of the committee said that the lease of Royal Palm Oil Club was not transparent. They blamed former military officials including Gen Javed Ashraf, Gen Seed Zaffar, Gen butt and Brigadier Akhtar for
eating up the money through unfair means.
The NAB further informed the committee that the Royal Palm Oil Club has agreed to raise the lease amount of Railways land.
