Google’s new 7-inch tablet, Nexus 7: Hands-on Review – Part 2

Google has a way to design both software and hardware, though they are not directly included in the hardware manufacturing industry but they surely have a say in the design.
Despite the fact that the new Nexus is a 7-inch model that is very much identical to Kindle Fire in footprint and the main page theme, the new tablet is slimmer than the Fire though not the slimmest in 7-inch category.
It measures 10.45mm in depth, which is quite a bit considering smartphones that border with it in screen size (Samsung Galaxy Note, for instance). However, the internal specs of this new device are far advanced than the smartphone. Due to that reason it weighs 0.7 pounds, which is a lot less for a quad-core processor and a high-end GPU inside.
All the necessary ports are available in the Nexus 7. There is a micro-USB port at the bottom of device to charge the battery and connect to PC/Mac. The power/sleep button, 3.5mm headphone jack and volume rocker are up top.
The inch-thick screen bezel has a 1.2-mega pixel front-facing camera. There are not dedicated keys or buttons at the bottom of the screen, instead the screen houses the Return, Home and Recent Apps buttons akin to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, released in 2011.
The flip side boasts a textured design that offers more grip to the hand while reading a book, watching a video or playing games. The case is removable to intrude inside for a battery change. The names Nexus and Asus are embossed into the cover but there is not much else to see. The rear-camera is missing from the scene, for some reason unfathomable.
However, that makes sense for a device that is priced for a pocket-money of 200 bucks.
