Islamabad: (Thursday, June 28, 2012) Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf here today said that among the prevailing issues, power crisis was perhaps the biggest challenge for his government. He said that he had been directed to take
appropriate steps to overcome the lingering issue.
Talking to the journalists, the prime minister said that all the political parties along with the stakeholders, were moving ahead on the issue of power shortages.
Replying to a question about Supreme Court’s resumption of NRO case hearing on 12 of the next month, the federal ministers – Qamar Zaman Kaira and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, stopped Ashraf from saying anything on the matter.
Upon this, the premier asked the journalists to confine their questions to the issue of power crisis only.
Pervaiz admitted before the media personnel that the country was through worst shortage of electricity and that his government was taking all possible efforts to overcome the problem.
Responding to a question about when would the problem was expected to be resolved, “You are already not forgiving me over the earlier deadlines given by me.” however, he said that he had directed the ministry of water and power
to not to carry out unscheduled loadshedding at any cost besides ensuring that no district or province was treated unfairly.
