Ajay Devgn: You have to worry about the box office numbers
Friday, June 29th, 2012 4:33:07 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe Indian actor, director and producer, Ajay Devgn needs no introduction in the country, as he is considered among the top six Bollywood actors, but even an acclaimed actor like him also worries about the box office success of a film.
Devgn recently had an interview with ‘TOI’, in which he insisted that he always remains concerned about his film success at the box office. The 43-year-old stated to experiment a new role is good for any actor but he should also be concerned about the box office success.
He said, “Of course, you have to worry about the box office numbers. Otherwise, people are ready to run you down at the slightest chance. When you experiment with roles or genre; you have also to worry about its box office fate.”
Devgn will be seen on the big screen on July 6 in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film ‘Bol Bachchan’ and then on November 13 in Ashwini Dhir’s film ‘Son of Sardar’. Both films have been produced by Devgn himself and he is pretty happy with the hype they have created among the audiences.
He said, “Right now I am very happy with Bol Bachchan’s hype and also with the response the poster of Son of Sardar has generated. Both films have shaped out well and I hope both are commercial successes.”
In the meantime, Devgn was also asked about what kind of films he wants to make.
He remarked, “I feel instinctively about the films I should produce, like Son of Sardar. The film has to be commercial and when I say commercial, I just don’t mean masala. Even parallel cinema can be commercial. The point is to make the film run in theatres. We are not in the business of teaching art to the world. We have to entertain the audience.”
Well, all said and done, Ajay Devgn is certainly one of the best Indian actors out there but let’s see what he brings for his fans this time.
