The Bolton’s finest, who is more commonly known as King Khan, lost his battle to Lamont Peterson last year on December 10, in a fight which had a controversial ending.

Khan had planed to move up to 147lbs division but his dreams were quashed by the American.

Both fighters were scheduled for a rematch in May but their fight couldn’t materialize, as Peterson came positive on drug testing and as a result to which Khan has now chosen Garcia as his opponent.

Khan and Garcia’s fight was initially for the WBC title but now it will also have the WBA title on-the-line since Peterson has recently been stripped off one of his belts.

The CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, while confirming the news, said that WBA light-welterweight champion Danny Garcia’s upcoming fight with Khan has now become a unification bout, which will have both WBC and WBA titles on-the-line.

He stated to RingTV.com, “I’ve gotten verbal confirmation that the WBA is going to have Amir fight for the WBA title, so that’s that. As it relates to the WBC, we already know that the fight is also going to be for the WBC title, so their fight will definitely be for two belts.”

Well, all said and done, this is Khan’s last fight at 140lbs division as well and a chance to watch it live is certainly something not to be missed!
