Amir Khan is again in the news, making headlines every now and then for his upcoming fight with Danny Garcia.
Before the July 14, 2012 ‘battle of the best’, all critics, analysts, naysayers and haters are putting forth their predictions and notions in support of either Khan or Garcia.
To some extent, Amir-Danny bout has become the leading main stream media talk, with most fans favouring Khan over Garcia for obvious reasons.
Khan has proven with time that he is undoubtedly the best fighter in the light welterweight division. With great speed, impressive agility, quality footwork, high levels of resilience, jaw-breaking punching power and slight help of hefty investments in promotions, Khan has won the hearts and minds of even his most stern critics.
What makes Khan the best and the odd-makers favourite against the legend-killer pugilist Danny Garcia? A brief look at the methodology, brawling style that Khan undergoes, and the game plan he follows, easily proves that Khan indeed is a marvel.
It is his unique style of taking on brawlers, along with great speed, that makes him unique and separates him from rest of the light welterweight lot. However, despite the fact that Khan outshines his opponents with his speed and agility, the Bolton proud has certain weaknesses, which if not rectified, will create problems for him in the future.
Using his speed and agility, Khan has successfully nailed some top-notch fighters in the past. Had he not evaded the jabs of powerful pugilists like Marcos Rene Maidana, Paul McCloskey, or Paul Malignaggi, he would have easily been knocked out by them.
Khan, the former IBF light welterweight title, faced a tough time while attacking Marcos, as the Argentinean was coming towards him again and again throwing powerful jabs.
Amir just started running away from Marcos. Khan threw a jab and moved back immediately. The Briton lad just shifted his strategy to collecting unanimous win instead of knocking his opponent out because he realised that Marcos can end him.
At that particular moment, Khan’s agility and body movements were worth watching. Though some people believe Khan’s awkward back and fro style is a coward attempt to keep himself away from the opponent, yet it was this strategy that aided him in grabbing a win over powerful Maidana.
Amir used the same game plan in his later fights, always emerging victorious. Even the best men in the division pronounce Khan as the most agile jab thrower, with a high connecting proficiency. It must also be noted that statistically Khan has successfully connected 32 of his 34% jabs on the target.
