Danny Garcia, the current WBC light welterweight champion, bashed Amir Khan, saying the Bolton proud does not box in fact he slaps and runs away.
Garcia added that Khan understands that he can be knocked out easily in the ring so the trash talking cannot aid him at all.
Despite having a flawless resume, Garcia, 24, is facing a serious issue nowadays. The young Philadelphia fighter, who has proven himself in the sport, is being pronounced as an underdog by all and sundry.
Also known as ‘Swift’, Garcia and his father- Angel Garcia recently removed the mist off this peculiar situation. It must be noted here that Danny is considered a powerful and young lethal pounder whose power is enough to even knockout the most legendary fighters of all time.
World number five light welterweight, Danny has always been criticised and underestimated by boxing analysts before every high-profile bout. Garcia Junior’s ears have now become immune of taunts like ‘underdog’, ‘under par brawler’, ‘has odds against him’ and the like.
Nevertheless, all these cries fade away when every time Danny comes out of the ring victorious after mercilessly bashing his opponent. Therefore, Garcia senior believes that the taunts are nothing new for his son.
Garcia Senior while explaining some unrevealed facts about his son commented that even in the amateur career Danny used to cry for being treated by the people as a low-quality belligerent despite putting forth an impressive performance.
Danny has now started to avoid such remarks. All he focuses on is his training and tries to make the most out of it. During his recent media interaction, Garcia commented that Khan lost the bout to Lamont Peterson genuinely, adding that Khan evades his opponents during the whole bout. Garcia junior further remarked that Amir just connects a jabs and instantly moves away.
Garcia stated, “To me, Khan fought the same against Peterson as he’s always fought, he slaps and runs; he doesn’t like getting hit, but if you hit him, he’ll run for three rounds.”
He added, “He knows he can be knocked out, and that’s a big thing. Once that happens, it’s always in the back of a fighter’s mind. I know it’s in the back of Khan’s mind.”
The aforementioned comments by the current WBC champion and the person who nailed Mexican legend Erik Morales clearly show that Garcia is well aware of how naysayers can be and therefore he simply is avoiding their remarks.
Garcia just concentrates on his sparring sessions with Mikey Perez and Karl Dargan. He is a focused brawler, an introvert, who talks less and hits more.
The duo will meet at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. In addition to Danny’s WBC title, Khan will also fight for the recently vacated WBA super world light welterweight title, as the bout is now a unification bout.
