Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf calls for early nomination of Chief Election Commissioner

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has called for early nomination of Chief Election Commission (CEC), saying an independent and autonomous election commission was prerequisite of free and fair elections.
Speaking to the media, the newly elected premier of the country said transparent polls required the government and opposition show agreement on a neutral and impartial CEC.
He remarked, “The opposition should come forward to the selection of CEC which is vital for the smooth and reliable electoral process ahead”.
He made it clear that he didn’t want politics of confrontation and any clash among institutions, urging the Punjab government to end its current policy of confrontation with the center.
The prime minister urged promoting politics of reconciliation and refrain from traditional leg pulling, saying the Sharif Brothers should let the incumbent government to complete its constitutional term in the light of Charter of Democracy (CoD) and wait for upcoming polls.
In his view, the system will not only endanger the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) but all other political forces if the democracy was derailed.
He noted, “The PPP did not want confrontation with any institution, including the Supreme Court, as it was a tradition of the party to take measure leading to strengthening of the institutions”.
Commenting on the major issues, Ashraf said that the incumbent wanted to resolve all national and international issues with the assistance of all political parties including opposition. He urged the other parties to respect the mandate if they want to strengthen the democracy in the country.
According to the reports, the premier chaired a meeting that decided to start efforts for general elections, directing all members of parliament to launch mass contact campaign dynamically.
Urging all institutions to respect the parliament, the prime minister said that the PPP would never undermine the esteem of the judiciary. He stated that elections would continue to happen in the country this year.
Ashraf also took members of the provincial bodies on board about the understanding reached with the PML-Q recently which led to the formation of new cabinet and carving of new office of the deputy prime minister for Pervez Elahi.

About our Professors: All of the professors have experience teaching the Quran to English speaking students.
