Kabul: (Monday, July 02, 2012) Afghanistan has blamed Pakistan for shelling its villages along the border between the two countries and has threatened to report to the UN Security Council over the violation of the Afghan land’s
sovereignty.
Authorities from Afghanistan’s eastern province Kunar, that is believed to be the hotbed for Taliban militants, have complained of being bombarded from across the border for weeks. The blaming of the barrage is being put on Pakistani
security forces.
While reporting the “shelling from Pakistani forces” the Afghan officials said that amid the bombardment at will, thousands of villagers in Kunar have fled their homes last week.
Sharing the details, Faramarz Tamana, the Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman, said that Kabul was discussing the attacks with Islamabad, and President Hamid Karzai plans to raise the matter with Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf
when he visits in the coming weeks.
While talking to the journalists, Tamana said, “If our bilateral discussions regarding this issue bring no result, we will refer this issue to the United Nations Security Council.”
