YDA strike takes nine more lives in Punjab

Lahore: As the Young Doctors Association’s (YDA) strike lingers on, due to non availability of the medical treatment, nine patients have died in public hospitals across Punjab.

The provincial government, in order to facilitate the patients, has requested the army to provide its doctors. As the strike entered in 15th day today, army and senior doctors took charge of many of the public hospitals.

Taking the service structure issue, the government of Punjab is in loggerhead with the YDA and the issue dose no seem settling down in the short run.

In order to show solidarity with their counterparts from Punjab, Young Doctors in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also closed the OPD departments for two hours.

To fulfill the gap created by the YDA strike, Punjab health department has appointed about 596 new military doctors.

Individually, 57 new doctors have been appointed in Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, 90 doctors have taken charge in the Services Hospital, 50 have been posted in Jinnah Hospital, 27 in General Hospital, 40 in Ganga Ram while 19 doctors
have been placed in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.

Similarly, in Faisalabad, about 90 doctors have been appointed across the city. 45 new doctors have taken charge in hospitals of Rawalpindi while 70 new doctors have been appointed in Multan.

76 doctors have been appointed in Rahim Yar Khan and 32 have been appointed in Bahawalpur.
