Islamabad High Court orders arrest of DG CDA over contempt charges

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to arrest Director General Planning of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu over contempt of court charges.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC issued these orders while hearing the case against former chairman of the prime minister’s task force on CDA Faisal Sakhi Butt.

During the course of hearing, the judge rebuked the Director General CDA over his staring, asking him if he wanted to influence the case with his insulting treatment. Later, the single-judge bench ordered for Sindhu’s apprehension over his outrageous behavior.

On Tuesday, the court had bowled out the Sindhu and Director General Administration Mansoor Ali Khan for their meeting with former chief coordinator of the prime minister on capital’s affairs Faisal Sakhi Butt, asking them not to play politics with the court.

Rejecting the plea of unconditional apology by CDA officials, the Islamabad High Court ordered them to submit their replies with the court until July 02.

The bench on June 19 took notice of media reports that two CDA officials, Mansoor Ali Khan and Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, met Faisal Sakhi Butt while ignoring the court orders.

The two officers have given the former chairman task force surety of their loyalty. The court summoned the two officials on June 26 to clear their position before the court.

The judge remarked, “Despite restraining orders of the court, the two officials met Faisal Sakhi Butt assuring him of their support and they even did not issue a rebuttal of news published in newspapers”.

The same IHC bench on May 14, while hearing a land allotment case of Fazal Hussain, had barred Faisal Sakhi Butt, the then chairman of the prime minister’s task force on CDA, from entering into the premises of the CDA.

The IHC bench in the same decision had also directed officials of the CDA not to visit the residence of Faisal Sakhi Butt in their official capacity.
