New Delhi: (Tuesday, July 03, 2012) Jalil Abbasi, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan has reached New Delhi along with a delegation to hold negotiations with his Indian counterpart Ranjan Mathai.
The bilateral talks will continue for two days (July 4-5).
Upon his arrival from Pakistan and talking to the journalists at the IGI airport Delhi, the Pakistani Foreign Secretary said, “I have brought good wishes and I am looking forward to my very constructive dialogue with my counterpart
Ranjan Mathai.”
Saying that he has got the confidence and mandate to further the peace process, Jalil said, “I have been mandated by the leadership to move this peace process forward.”
Earlier, upon his arrival at New Delhi Airport, Pakistan’s High Commission to India, Salman Bashir, officers of the High Commission and Joint Secretary (PAI) in the Ministry of External Affairs of Government of India Y.K Singh
received Jilani.
Mentioning about this new phase of dialogue between the nuclear armed arch rivals and neighbours, Foreign Office of Pakistan has announced that initially two-day Foreign Secretary level talks will take place.
The agenda of the meeting include “Peace and Security” including CBMs, Jammu and Kashmir and Friendly Exchanges in New Delhi.
According to the Foreign office of Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani will led the talks on these segments on behalf of Pakistan.
The visit of the Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani to India for bilateral talks will also provide an opportunity to the two foreign secretaries to exchange views on bilateral matters.
