Danny Garcia looking forward to cement his legacy by beating Amir Khan

Going head to head with former IBF and WBA light welterweight titlist Amir Khan, Danny Garcia believes it is time to cement his legacy. Garcia has previously appreciated Khan for his accomplishments and now believes that it is about time for Khan’s brand to end.

In a recent interview, Garcia, who usually allows his father to talk on his behalf, came up saying, “If you’re the world champion, you’re supposed to fight the best people in your prime. That’s what I want do to. I want to be the best, and when you’re the world champion, you’re supposed to fight the best for my legacy, starting young.”

Garcia spoke of himself as a world champion who is responsible to face the best in order to establish his brand, just as Khan did once.

Talking about his experience, the unbeaten American said, “I think that every fight, I learned something different, and you grow as a professional in every fight. You get smarter, you get more confident, and I think that every fight helped me in a different way and led me to this fight.”

Danny Garcia is not a regular participant of the war of words against Khan. Usually, his father and trainer Angel Garcia is the one throwing his weight around. Nevertheless, the WBC champion felt it is about time to express his views, and so he did.

The fight between Khan and Garcia takes place at the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort in Las Vegas. It will be a title unification bout, with Garcia defending his WBC light welterweight title along with the vacant WBA light welterweight title on the line.

Furthermore, Garcia will bring his unbeaten streak to the ring. A loss to Danny means more than just losing his title, he will lose his pride too. On the other hand, this match is a must-win for Khan, as he needs to prove his mettle in the ring, especially after losing his titles to Lamont Peterson last year in December.
