Danny Garcia: Fans want to see blood, sweat and tears

The current WBC light welterweight Danny Garcia believes he has done enough to please fans. However, the Philadelphia resident feels dejected when he sees fans supporting Khan for their upcoming bout.

Garcia, who is coming off a unanimous decision victory over the legendary Erik Morales, claims he is better than Amir Khan, who is coming off a title loss to Lamont Peterson.

“I think that I showed a lot of heart in that fight. In the 11th round, he cut me on my eyebrow and I started bleeding and my nose was a little swollen. I stood there and I traded with a Mexican warrior, and the fans loved it, and that’s what people want to see in boxing,” Garcia said while sharing his views regarding his last fight.

Danny Garcia currently stands with 23 wins, 0 losses and 14 knockouts. In other words, he is an undefeated fighter who is moving fast towards cementing his legacy. Nicknamed ‘Swift’, Garcia is currently considered among the top young pugilists in the world.

“They want to see blood, sweat and tears. When the times got heated, and people thought my nose was broken, and my eye was bleeding, my heart got pumped up and I stood there and I traded. If I could say I showed anything in that fight was that I have heart under pressure,” said Garcia when asked what fans expect of him.

Danny Garcia will be defending his WBC light welterweight title against Amir Khan on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. In addition, the fight will also have the WBA light welterweight title on the line. The winner will get the chance to unite both the titles.

Garcia is rated as the underdog for the fight, whereas Khan is being favoured by most analysts, fans and fighters. Both fighters are more or less of the same calibre, despite the fact that Garcia is undefeated to date. Moreover, July 14 will be the biggest payday of Garcia’s career. If the unbeaten American is able to nail Khan, he can expect greener pastures in the future.
