Microsoft plans to expand music service with functions similar to iTunes
Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 5:27:34 by Awais KhanThe company is negotiating with the necessary rights record according to some sources.
After the failed experiment of the Zune service, Microsoft announced its new Xbox E3 Music, a service that will seek to provide a content streaming Spotify style with unloading and storage functions online like that of Apple’s iTunes.
The claims were made by sources who have claimed the middle Bloomberg. Microsoft is negotiating rights with renowned music labels such as Vivendi SA’s Universal Music Group, Warner Music, Sony Corp or EMI, reveal these sources.
It was also indicated that the Redmond-based company aims to offer streaming content through annual or monthly fee similar to Spotify. And buy music through an online store such as Zune, iTunes or Amazon.com.
Although negotiations still seem to be far from fruitful, sources say that Microsoft needs these labels to not risk launching a service that would offer less Zune content and artists. None of the above companies has declined to comment on this.
