Pervez Musharraf fears another military rule in the country
Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 12:11:58 by Faisal FarooqFormer president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf feared another military coup in the country, saying that Pakistan was being run to the ground at the moment.
Speaking to a public gathering in Aspen, Colorado, the former military ruler said that people were again running to the military to save the country, the Guardian reported.
He admitted that the country’s constitution was revered, asking, “Should we save the country and do something unconstitutional or uphold the constitution but let the state go down?”
Musharraf vowed to make a comeback to the country on his own accord, dismissing calls in his country for Interpol to apprehend him.
He claimed that the general elections would he be held this year, making it clear that he was prepared to risk arrest by returning for upcoming polls.
He, who ruled the country for about nine years, clarified he would make a comeback voluntarily even at risk of his life.
His recent remarks came just days after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sent a second reminder to the Interpol to arrest him. Earlier, the agency declared him a proclaimed offender in the assassination of two-timer former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
The former military chief observed, “I know I see Pakistan and I know it has all the potential to do well for itself, now at this moment it’s being run to the ground. Therefore I love my country and I love the people of Pakistan, and I thought I must go back”.
However, Musharraf did not give specific dates for his return to the country. Earlier, he had claimed that he would return to Pakistan in January 2012 and then in March, but on both the occasions, he did not fulfill his promises.
The former president became chief executive of the country in a military coup in 1999 before ascending to the presidency in 2001, resigned in 2008 when he was facing threat of impeachment from opposition parties.
According to the report, the dictatorial president claimed that Iran was committed to develop a nuclear bomb.
He recalled telling Ahmadenijad during his visit to Iran in 2004, “You should not adopt a confrontational course; you should adopt a conciliatory course, for the sake of the world and the region”. However, he said his suggestion was not given any importance.

Since, the government of Pakistan has lost confidence of nation, and only, the patience of Muslim League (N), has kept Marshal Law away in the country. Considering this matter, Mr.Musharraf statement seems fine.
