LG Optimus Vu (2012): Full Review – Part 2
Wednesday, July 4th, 2012 4:13:08 by Usman KhalidFor its size, LG has kept the phone’s weight at bay. It is not as heavy as one would anticipate at first look. At 6.08 ounces it is not the lightest device in the market but for its footprint it does give a good satisfying feel. At 5.5 inches height and 3.5 inches width with 0.33 inches depth, it is biggest phone in the market but not necessarily the thickest. From design aesthetics, the LG Optimus Vu is a good phone to go for. However its size still has a reluctance to adopt.
The front side houses a 5-inch LCD capacitive-touch screen. At the top bezel is a 1.3-mega pixel camera accompanied by a proximity sensor. The top edge has a 3.5mm headset jack; QuickClip, a dedicated button to launch LG-exclusive Quick Memo; a micro-USB port, covered by a sliding silver door; a power/sleep toggle, and an antenna for television and radio reception.
The right side has a volume rocker and nothing else. The left side has micro-USB port with a cover over it and two slits for speaker phones. The rear-side has an 8-mega pixel snapper with full-HD qualities. It is supported by an LED flash source.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood is a snappy dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with support from 1 GB of RAM. Though the Optimus 4X HD has an NVIDIA quad-core brain to run Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0, the Vu’s dual-core processor is fast enough to run Gingerbread smooth enough. Yes, you get that right; the Vu comes pre-loaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and not the latest incarnation, ICS.
However, the OS comes with all the latest Google goodies that you would want right off the bat. Included in the package are Google regulars Gmail, Search, Latitude, Play Store, Maps with Navigation, Places, Talk, and YouTube.
