Dwayne Bravo eyeing Test comeback
Thursday, July 5th, 2012 1:48:53 by Rana Nasir GhafoorWest Indies’ experienced all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is aiming to regain his place in the Test side, saying that he is available for all three formats of the game.
The 28-year-old, who played his last Test match 18 months ago, is determined to keep trying for his place in the Test squad. Bravo’s immediate goal is to perform well in the upcoming five-match One Day International series against New Zealand.
"I still have a lot to achieve. It’s beyond my control, but I’m available to play all forms of the game and we’ll just see how it goes after these five ODIs [against New Zealand]. Hopefully something will happen. If not, I’ll continue pushing and pressing
for my spot," Bravo told reporters on Wednesday.
Bravo was last seen in the longest version of the game in 2010, before he took a self-imposed break. The talented all-rounder has been an integral part of West Indies’ ODI squad over the past few years, but the longest version of the sport is yet to see
something special from him.
Bravo described that there is no pressure on him, as he is enjoying his game. Moreover, he claimed that he understands his role in the side and will try to give his best shot in every version of the game.
"[I’m under] no pressure. I am able to perform once my mind is at ease and I’m happy and relaxed, and am able to express myself and enjoy my cricket. Since I’ve taken the break and come back, you can see a lot of difference in the way I play now and how
I was playing a year ago. I’m relaxed now and happy. I understand my role in the team,” he stated.
Bravo continued, "Once I’m happy and comfortable the performances will take care of themselves. I’m reaping the rewards now. I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work. I had a very good IPL and the form that I gained from the IPL I’m trying to bring it back
here into the regional team."
West Indies and New Zealand are all set to meet in the ODI series before a couple of Test matches.
