Julie Roddin and Laurie Hug dominate swimming events – 2012 Marriott USMS Summer Nationals

Julie Roddin and Laurie Hug occupied gold medals of Women’s 1500m freestyle in the age group of 35-39 and 45-49 year old respectively at the 2012 Marriott USMS Summer Nationals at the CenturyLink Center Omaha.

Roddin enjoyed a benefit of more than thirty seconds over her closest challenger and tapped the wall with a wonderful timing of 19 minutes and 44.04 seconds for first position.

The champion was trailed by Malena Hankins, who remained nearly forty-four seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end with a nice timing of 20 minutes and 28.64 seconds for second position.

Similarly, Hankins was trailed by Sabine Weiser, who stayed than a minute apart and sprinted her way towards the finishing blockade with an effort of 21 minutes and 44.63 seconds for bronze medal.

Fourth position of the event was obtained by Kristin R Volz, who remained substantially slower from her foregoing swimmer and settled on the finishing blockade with an effort of 25 minutes and 38.06 seconds.

Similarly, Volz was followed by Yaritza Gomez, who remained nearly two minutes apart and concluded her swim in a time of 27 minutes and 39.79 seconds for fifth place.

Next was the equivalent event in Women’s 45-49 year old class, where Hug served notice of her talent and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 18 minutes and 40.27 seconds.

The gold medallist enjoyed an advantage of nearly fifteen seconds over Jill E Gellatly, who proved her audacity for silver medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 18 minutes and 55.86 seconds.

The second position holder was trailed by Marianne Countryman, who stayed nearly forty seconds apart and secured bronze medal of the discipline by producing a time of 19 minutes and 36.13 seconds.

Following that, the crowd witnessed stupendous efforts of Ellen K Bennett, who stayed nineteen seconds away from overpowering the third position holder and finished fourth in the discipline with the timing of 19 minutes and 55.77 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
