Islamabad: (Friday, July 06, 2012) In the National Assembly session that is currently underway in the leadership of Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, details of the fees paid to the lawyers prosecuting government’s cases in the Supreme
Court was shared.
According to the details, Babar Awan remained the highest paid lawyer who received Rs 24.2 million for representing government in different cases, Hafeez Pirzada received Rs 7.2 million while Waseem Sajjad was paid Rs 5.9 million
in government cases.
Moreover, during the session, the law ministry told the house in writing that 273 individuals benefited from the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Out of these 273 persons, 190 belonged to Punjab, 63 from Sindh
and 12 from Balochistan, while 8 of them were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The investigations were resumed after the Supreme Court annulled the NRO.
