Rudiger Gnedt, a talented shuttler from Austria, starts his campaign in Men’s Singles first round in a positive fashion as he overpowered Scotland’s Alistair Casey in a thrilling battle at the OCBC US Open GP Gold 2012 on Monday, at Los Angeles, USA.
The impressive Rudiger proved that he has obtained a higher level of skills as he showed impressive performance against Alistair and won the fight in a narrow fashion.
The Austrian was took the first game but failed to kept an upper hand in the following set. However, he showed his tremendous skills in the final set and won the match in rubber games.
Both shuttlers started their campaign in an aggressive and positive manner but it was Rudiger who played smart badminton and pushed his challenger on back foot.
Rudiger was in at his best as he commanded the pace of the game and remained ahead at 11-8 until the mid-game interval.
Alistair also changed his tactics after the break and pushed his Austrian opponent on back foot by using his impressive smashes from all areas of the court.
Nonetheless, Alistair could not maintain his control over rallies at the ending points as his opponent played aggressive and positive game to and took the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
It was a different situation in the second set when Alistair showed his brilliance and manipulated all loopholes of his opponent.
On the other hand, Rudiger could not remain consistent on court as he failed to show strong resistance and lost the game with a huge10-21 margin on the board.
In the decider, the Scottish again played positive and thrilling badminton to manage a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the end of first half.
Rudiger played to his maximum potential after the interval and remained successful in bridging the gap at 13-13.
From this stage onwards, both men played at their best aped and remained close until the ending points when Rudiger showed a stunning performance end ended the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
The in-form Rudiger overpowered Alistair in this superb contest with a narrow margin of 21-19, 10-21 and 21-19.
