Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia: Roach admits Garcia is a tough kid

Freddie Roach, Hall of Famer coach, admits Danny Garcia is a tough kid but believes Amir Khan is the better fighter between to two.

Freddie Roach was present in Los Angeles with Amir ‘King’ Khan at the Wild Card Boxing Gym in Hollywood. Roach and Khan held a media workout, exhibiting Khan’s talent and skills.

“We have had a really good training camp we have had good sparring,” revealed Roach.

“We are ready to fight Garcia. [Garcia] is a tough kid shows a lot of heart and is a good quality opponent. I think Amir is the superior fighter he is the taller with longer arms he throws straight punches and Garcia throws a lot of punches I think we have a chance of catching him early because he’s a slow starter. I suggest Amir gets warmed up early,” Roach added.

Amir Khan is a British fighter who stands with 26 wins, 2 losses and 18 knockouts, while Garcia is an undefeated fighter and the current WBC light welterweight champion. Khan will be taking on Garcia for the WBC light welterweight title as well as the vacant WBA light welterweight title.

Revealing about his training, Khan iterated, “My preparation has been brilliant. A long training camp, we were over in the Philippines getting ready for the Peterson fight but that fight got called off.”

CEO of Golden Boy Promotions revealed yesterday that the IBF light welterweight title might be on the line as well, considering the commission strips off Lamont Peterson. The WBA has already stripped Peterson off the title following the positive drug test of April. The WBA title is now on the line for Khan vs. Garcia, and Schaefer is hoping for the IBF title to be there as well.

For now, Khan is training hard to revamp his fighting style. Khan is working specifically on his punching power instead of his speed, something he usually does not do.
