Japan’s passionate player Takuma found a staggering start in Men’s Singles first round when he brushed aside Philippines Antonio Benjamin at the OCBC US Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Monday, at Los Angeles, USA.
The top seeded Ueda, who is currently placed at number 40 in Men’s Singles world rankings, made a perfect start in the event as he did not show any respect to his lower ranked rival and registered a fabulous win over him.
The higher ranked Ueda showed his marvellous class which remaining positive on court and thrashed Antonio in straight games with a huge margin by consuming just 29 minutes.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Antonio had no answer to the elevated play of his rival as he was lacking the speed and power on court and eventually lost the battle without proving his mettle.
Antonio put up strong resistance against the top seeded Ueda in the first game of the match and he managed to remain close on the board at the initial stage.
Both men progressed equally and Ueda could not set up lead until the end of first half as his opponent was playing flawless badminton.
However, Ueda showed his class after the break when he employed attacking shots and remained successful in setting up a superb lead on the score board.
The Japanese took advantage of with his powerful shots and maintained the pace of rallies at the maximum level. He remained on course and won the game with a 21-14 score on the board.
Ueda did not let Antonio to fight back in the match as he played at his best and set up an 11-4 lead until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, the top seeded Japanese continued showing attacking skills on court as he did not slow down the pace of rallies and easily took the second game with a completely one-sided score of 21-6.
The in-form Ueda easily won his opening battle of the tournament with a huge 21-14 and 21-6 score on the board.
