David Haye claims his fight with Dereck Chisora has gripped the nation!
Monday, July 9th, 2012 4:37:11 by Imran Shaukat KhanFormer undisputed world cruiserweight champion and world heavyweight title holder, David Haye, took part in a public work-out at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent on Saturday and he now believes that his upcoming grudge fight with Dereck Chisora has gripped the whole nation.
Haye will lock horns with his archrival Dereck Chisora, former British heavyweight champion, on July 14 at the West Ham Upton Park Stadium in east London, in a fight which is one of the most controversial fights in British boxing history.
The 31-year-old brash Londoner, who is more commonly known as the Hayemaker, shared his thoughts in an exclusive daily fight diary, which he wrote for Standard Sport. The pugilist claimed that he is the fans favorite and he knows they all want him to knockout Chisora in the ring.
Though the Hayemaker admitted there will be a lot Chisora fans in the arena, he said he majority of fans will be following him.
Haye stated, “Hundreds of fans came out to watch me and I got a real kick out of it. If we didn’t know beforehand, it’s now abundantly clear this fight on Saturday has gripped the nation and most people are really keen to watch it. In fact, all of the fans I mingled with had a view on the fight and the majority wanted me to beat up Dereck in fine style.”
While sharing his thoughts, Haye insisted that nobody wants Chisora to dominate the fight because they all know his character very well.
He added, “That didn’t exactly surprise me. After all, anybody who has come across Dereck will know he isn’t a nice guy. And I think the public are well aware of this, too. He has a rich history of unpleasantness, a list of misdemeanours far longer than his list of world-class wins in a boxing ring.”
Well, all said and done, Haye and Chisora’s bout has created an enormous hype among the people but let’s see if the fight really live up to the expectations.
