Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf vows to defend national integrity
Tuesday, July 10th, 2012 12:00:16 by Faisal FarooqRejecting the impression of confrontation among institutions, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Monday vowed to defend the national integrity as well as respect of the parliament.
After passage of Contempt of Court Bill, the premier addressed the National Assembly, the Lower House of the Parliament.
He observed, “The government is fully aware of national obligations and pride and has firm resolve to protect it. We have not hidden anything from the nation and will not do so in future”.
Commenting on the resumption of NATO supply-line, he made it clear that they will place all details before the nation if there will be any MoU with the United States regarding war on terror.
In his view, they couldn’t live in isolation and couldn’t make the country an island, as NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is a group of 50 countries and some of them are close friends of Pakistan.
He, however, said that they were also aware of their interests and national priorities while taking crucial decisions. In order build consensus over the issue, he called upon opposition to come on table to discuss the matter.
Ashraf noted, “The government stood by its principled stance to protect national interests and kept the supply suspended for eight months. We stood firm on our demand of US apology on Salala incident. Finally US tendered apology and all US media reported it”.
The premier was of the opinion that peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in interest of the Pakistan. They want to render their support in the process and wishes better ties with regional countries, he added.
Raja Pervez Ashraf also felicitated the Parliament on consensus on the name of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
He remarked, “Fakhar-ud-Din G Ibrahim is a person who enjoys confidence of the parliament and the people. His appointment as CEC will pave way for impartial and transparent election as desired by the nation”.
Both the government and opposition, he said were significant in democratic system. Making it clear that they have no ill-will about any institution, he wished strong democracy in the country.
Raja Pervez Ashraf stated that the government respects judiciary from the core of heart and dispelled the impression that there can be confrontation between the institutions.
He also asserted the newly approved bill will not create any hindrance in dispensation of responsibilities.

Passing Contempt of Court Act 2012 by the parliament is disgrace for the entire nation.
I condemn it with full force.
If we do not respect our own courts, who else will respect the verdicts passed by Pakistani Courts.
It is time for PPP to go home.
Enough is enough. PPP is stretching its legs beyond its limits.
May Al-Mighty Allah save Pakistan from the corrupt politicians. Aameen.
