PPL clubs to field U-19 teams, says PFF
Thursday, July 12th, 2012 5:25:10 by Shahrukh SohailThe Pakistan Football Federation has implemented a policy to ensure that clubs participating in the Premier League will have to make U-19 teams or they will be expelled from the competition.
In a meeting at the PFF house in Lahore, the Federation decided to call for U-19 teams, a plea which was agreed to by the clubs.
Departmental clubs have a notorious history of undermining the young talent at their disposal and considering how the National Team has been performing; the blame lies with the structure of football and the teams in it.
However the PFF have taken a major step in turning around the fortunes of the Green-Shirts, claiming that every side in the Premier League will need a have to a U-19 team or else they will be kicked out of the League.
The officials have also decided to hand over power to the match commissioners, claiming that by doing this technical matters and complaints would be solved much faster.
“We’ve empowered the commissioner because last season we received a lot of complaints and PFF can’t directly look into all technical things,” a PFF official said.
Other measures taken by the Federation include changing the number of kits from four to two, while urging the domestic clubs to focus on the finishing aspect of their strikers.
