Svetlana Chimrova and Rob Muffels win gold medals – European Junior Swimming Championships

Svetlana Chimrova and Rob Muffels won gold medals of the Girls 100m butterfly and Boys 800m freestyle respectively on day four of the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.

Chimrova remained full body length away from her challengers as she touched the wall for the crown of the event with the timing of 59.07 seconds.

The gold medallist was chased by Liliana Szilagyi of Hungary, who remained 0.84 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 59.91 seconds for silver medal.

Subsequently, the third position of the discipline was secured by Christina Munkholm of Denmark, who stayed 0.33 seconds behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 00.24 seconds.

The third position holder was trailed by Lucie Svecena, who stayed 0.17 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with the timing of 1 minute and 00.41 seconds.

Fifth position of the butterfly event was secured by Valeriia Kolotushkina, who stayed just a touch slower from overpowering her former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 00.58 seconds.

Next was the Boys 800m freestyle, where Muffels smothered all efforts of his opponents. With his laudable efforts, he enjoyed a two-body length lead over his strongest challenger and tapped the wall with the timing of 7 minutes and 59.43 seconds.

His gold winning struggle remained almost two body lengths ahead of Antonio Arroyo Perez, who captured silver medal of the discipline with the timing of 8 minutes and 01.65 seconds.

The second position holder was trailed by Marcin Kaczmarski, who stayed nearly half body length behind and completed his swim with an effort of 8 minutes and 02.13 seconds for bronze medal.

Fourth position of the event was secured by Jan Micka, who stayed 1.21 seconds slower and made his way to the finishing blockade with the timing of 8 minutes and 03.34 seconds.

Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all events in Men and Women’s corner.
