LIT brings new shape to motorbikes yet it cannot be called one – Part 2
Thursday, July 12th, 2012 8:53:04 by Usman KhalidThe C1 is designed keeping in view the basic safety and aerodynamics in view. It has two wheels, one in the front and one in the back, just like a motorbike. The whole structure is covered, including the wheels, like a car. The outer-shell includes the cabin, fender, bonnet and a boot, for luggage.
The cabin, to everyone’s surprise, is quite comfortable, even for a tall person. The leg space is ample for adjusting legs for paddles beneath the steering wheel. The front has a headlamp just like a rickshaw over the front wheel. The back-side has all the necessary red lights and indicators.
The innards are not cheaply manufactured. The interior is covered with sound-reducing fabric/hardboard sheets. The windows, steering wheel and wing mirrors are all electric powered. The side windows are huge though even for a regular car, but the company said that it has been design to keep everything outside in a feasible line of sight. The huge windows actually keep the blind spots inside at the minimum. There is also a second seat for extra passenger inside the cabin. However, it leaves lesser room for other things insides. Comparing to a motorbike this is a big achievement. The driver can take the C1 in the rain, strong wind and is also feasible in warm weathers.
The new automobile has two gyros in the middle of the chassis that keep it the vertical position even if an external force tries to tilt it to either side. This is extremely helpful in sideway accidents. The tires might skid a little but strong gyros keep the vehicle from dropping to left or right.
The gyros are powered by an electric motor that produces 550 pound-feet of torque, enough for the vehicle to remain intact in its posture in an accident with a car, truck or SUV.
C1 is in the prototype phase and will be in mass production in 2014. LIT anticipates it to be priced around $25,000.
