Govt ready to accept demands of dissident Blochs: PM Ashraf
Friday, July 13th, 2012 4:28:44 by Faisal FarooqIn another bid to woo back the angry nationalist leaders, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the government was ready to accept legitimate demands of dissident Baloch people.
While co-chairing the Balochistan cabinet meeting with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, the recently elected premier said that the Baloch were patriotic Pakistanis. In his view, only a small number people were busy in spreading hatred in the province.
PM Ashraf further said that he would play his role according to his capacity to overcome the problems being faced by people in Balochistan.
Praising Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for his efforts for recovering missing people of the province, the premier said such commitment will help them in overcoming the situation.
He was of the opinion that that issues could not be resolved through arms instead they should be addressed through political dialogue and table-talks.
The prime minister stated that terrorists belonged to no religion, adding that President Asif Ali Zardari had tendered apology to Baloch people on behalf of the entire nation after the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) took charge of the government.
Ashraf further stated that the military dictator aggravated issues of the Balochistan by mishandling, particularly killing Nawab Akbar Bugti.
It is vital to mention here that Raja Pervez Ashraf after taking oath had pledged the nation to bring to a halt the contentious pick, kill and dump incidents across the province.
He also promised that bringing stability and prosperity in the region will remain the top priority of the incumbent government, adding that predominance of political engagement was the only option to solve the problem.
He had also reaffirmed the incumbent government’s commitment to follow a multi-pronged strategy to address the grievances of the Baloch people and end their sense of alienation.
At the very first day of his premiership, he invited the Baloch leadership for a dialogue to address their all grievances within the framework of the federation.
