Balochistan is burning…

Saturday, July 14th, 2012 3:12:23 by

There are so many killer groups in Balochistan which are currently having a field day and apparently two explanations are given for the emergence.

Firstly, the provincial government and law enforcement agencies are completely incompetent to handle the situation. Second are the peculiar policies of the government in the province which led to the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti and the unending abductions and murders of Baloch nationalists.

There is no halt in such incidents despite the Supreme Court declared Frontier Corps (FC) responsible for several incidents.

Baloch groups too are openly involved in killings of settlers, immigrant laborers against the violation of law by state actors. Moreover, the militant jihadi wings with support power corridors have immunity to kill ethnic minorities, particularly Hazara Shias in the outskirts of provincial metropolis.

In the last two days, many people hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been killed allegedly by banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Some of them were come here to eke out a living.

The former targeted a political rally while the latter claimed the responsibility for the abductions and killings of poor laborers.

Hundreds of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) activists took the dead bodies to the Balochistan High Court (BHC) where Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing cases against forceful disappearances and murders.

The ill-conceived policies of establishment led the creation of the bloodthirsty and thoroughly non-political Baloch separatists.

The province can witness a severe confrontation between the Baloch and Pushtun if the authorities concerned aren’t step forward to overcome the situation. The only and most effective way to deal with such elements is the establishment of the rule of law in the province.

For this purpose, the authorities concerned will have to control the activities of intelligence departments and law enforcement agencies in the region. The country has already suffered a lot at the hands of state-actors.

Neither the judiciary nor the military has the vision to run the country. On the other hand, politicians alone can do this if given a free hand which has so far failed to happen.

If such policy decisions continue to be taken by pip-dreaming offstage players in the name of political administration, the country could meet irreparable setbacks.

A real politician cant be stopped by Judiciary or Military leadership. The problem is that we don’t have the leaders in real who can take the challenges head-on.Writer has indirectly given an alibi to the political leadership to continue with the blame game and do nothing. I wish writer could through some light on the way-forward instead of cribbing against state institutions which probably has become the easiest way to write articles without substance.
