Lenovo IdeaTab S2109A (2012): Full Review – Part 1
Saturday, July 14th, 2012 5:02:38 by Usman KhalidLenovo released a new tablet, IdeaTab S2109A, a 9.5-inch device. The tablet has some striking resemblances with the iPad, iPad 2 in particular. However, the new tablet is more attractive due to its price and the operating system it adorns. For $350 the IdeaTab is an interesting device but it is one year too late in the market when there are a number of quad-core slates.
The new device has the basic dimension aesthetics resembling the iPad 2 but lies on the shorter side of the stick when it comes to performance. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich runs through its veins but the performance is sloppy when compared to paring dual-core tablets.
The specification sheet is an ordinary collection of hardware features. The camera performance is less than satisfactory and movies play with stutter.
In all, Lenovo’s attempt to register its presence might not go as planned especially when there are other Android tablets available in the market with almost the same price tag and higher specifications, for instance, Asus Transformer Pad TF300. The Taiwanese company has taken a deeper stab on the iPad market not only because of a $380 price but quad-core Tegra 3 processor and a slimmer design that the iPad.
On the other hand, the device at hand sports a normal screen resolution that might match iPad 2’s pixel density but not the current devices from the likes of Toshiba, Asus and Acer.
Design
In terms of its outlook, the IdeaTab resembles the iPad 2 in the basic design features like the width, height and even the depth. The screen resolution is the same as is its ratio at 4:3.
