The three-day national immunisation campaign against polio, during which 17.3 million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops all over the province, will start from Monday (today).
The Health Department had constituted more than 38,000 teams to achieve the target, a spokesman said on Sunday, adding that 32,000 mobile teams consisting of two to three people will visit door-to-door for administering polio drops.
“Similarly, more than 2,000 teams have been posted at exit points of cities and 4,000 static teams have been deputed at railway stations, bus terminals and airports to provide service to travelling children,” he informed.
The Health Department spokesman further disclosed that polio vaccination facilities had also been provided in all public sector hospitals, health centres and dispensaries. The spokesman appealed to parents, religious leaders, civil society members, NGOs
staff and public representatives to play their role in this national cause, so that our younger generation could be protected from permanent disability and we could achieve the goal of eradicating the menace of polio from the country.
Seminar: A seminar aimed at streamlining the implementation of all local taxes, including property tax, and enhancing the system of tax recovery was held on Sunday under the auspices of the Local Bodies Department. The seminar was presided over by Local
Government Secretary Khyzer Hayat Gondal.
It was conducted in cooperation with the World Bank and Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company, and was attended by tehsil municipal officers and tehsil officers of Finance and Regulation Departments from all over Punjab.
The director general of the Excise and Taxation Department also attended the seminar on a special invitation, and informed the participants in detail about the various steps being taken by the Punjab government regarding implementation and recovery of taxes
in the province.
