President calls new Chief Election Commissioner

Islamabad: (Tuesday, July 17, 2012) President Asif Ali Zardari called the newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakheruddin G Ibrahim to congratulate him on holding the new office.

According to the sources at president house, during his telephone, President Zardari expressed hope that the new chief election commissioner will discharge his duties effectively.

After having protracted tussle with the opposition, the government has finally reached on to a consensus to appoint Fakheruddin G Ibrahim as new CEC.
