Amir Khan: Well done Danny Garcia; I promise I’ll bounce back!
Tuesday, July 17th, 2012 12:20:17 by Imran Shaukat KhanAmir Khan has lost his WBA light-welterweight title, as he suffered a fourth-round stoppage by Danny Garcia at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas last Saturday night.
After Breidis Prescott, this was second brutal knockout of Khan’s career which brought him a lot of criticism, especially from IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch.
However, the Brit has promised his fans that he’ll bounce back once again and this time he’ll be stronger than ever.
Khan said, “Well done to Danny Garcia on his performance, but I promise that I’ll bounce back stronger than ever as I look to regain my spot at the top of the 140lb division.”
He added: “Many fighters down the years have bounced back from defeat to prove their greatness and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I’ve never shirked any challenge or refused to fight anyone in my division even though it would have been easy for me to do so.”
While speaking on his inclusion, Khan told the media that he has always tried to entertain audiences with exciting fights and he will prove himself again.
The Bolton man insisted he will relax in the Holy month of Ramadan but afterwards he figure out what to do.
He said, “Some say that attitude is the wrong one to have but I’ve always wanted to please the fans and be involved in exciting fights.
“I’m going to spend the next few weeks relaxing during Ramadan and recharging my batteries after what was a 16-week training camp for me. I’ll then sit down with my team to assess the options in front of me.”
Well, all said and done, Khan had planned to move up to 147lbs division last year but his dreams were quashed by Lamont Peterson and this time another under-rated boxer has defeated him in the ring.
Nevertheless, let’s hope Khan comes back stronger this time because he cannot afford another defeat.
