His death has shaken the rock world, and several have paid their condolences to Lord’s family. Slash, Mike Portnoy, Iron Maiden, Joe Satriani, Geezer Butler and Tom Morello are among many who have expressed their grief over the loss of the legendary musician.

Slash tweeted from his official account:
“Sad day in Rock & Roll; Jon Lord has passed on. One of the biggest, baddest, heaviest sounds in Heavy Metal. One if a kind. RIP”.
Portnoy also expressed his grief at the social networking site:
“So sad to hear about the passing of Jon Lord…one of the pioneers of heavy keyboards and a real gentleman”.
Iron Maiden’s official account of twitter tweeted:
“Very sad to hear that Jon Lord has passed away”.
Satriani tweeted:
“R.I.P. Jon Lord”.
Although, Jon Lord is no more with us, his melodies will continue to live on….
If you’re leaving close the door.
I’m not expecting people anymore.
Hear me grieving, I’m lying on the floor.
Whether I’m drunk or dead I really ain’t too sure.
I’m a blind man, I’m a blind man, now my room is cold.
When a blind man cries, Lord, you know he feels it from his soul…
Jon Lord.
