Barnes and Noble develop new LCD screens for the upcoming Nook tablet – Part 2
Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 5:19:00 by Usman KhalidBarnes and Noble did some basic check on the sales and overcame some of the fierce competition factors. For a start, it had Bluetooth and expandable memory option. Yet , the company could not keep up with competition on the price front. It was still 50 bucks expensive than the Fire.
To aggravate the competition more, Google came along and took a direct stab on the Fire’s sales with sheer audacity. For some reason, an HD screen, 8 GB RAM, quad-core processor, Android Jelly Bean, 16-core GPU and slim structure did not succeed in affecting its price. The new Nexus 7 is up for grabs at $199.
After the release of the Nexus tablet, all eyes were focused on two market players, Amazon and Apple to bring up their 7-inch devices this year. However, the relatively unlikely contender B&N took a leap ahead of the two. Though it is still in rumours but the long trail of such news has confirmed that it might hold some truth after all. Moreover, the source that broke this alleged news holds credibility with a reputation of providing authentic news in the past.
Hearsay is that Barnes and Noble might in talks with Microsoft some Windows Phone and Windows 8 features in the new tablet. However, the source has confirmed that the new tablet will still be the heavily customized version of Android, not Windows 8.
There are chances that Xbox 360 might make its way to the Nook Tablet, mainly for audio and video streaming. Moreover, B&N is also expected to expand its online store to house movies, songs and other multi-media that it lacked before.
There has been no exact work on the release date of device, nor has been there any specifics on its price. However, it is expected to hit the market in late Fall 2012.
