David Haye wants Amir Khan to come back and beat Danny Garcia in good fashion!
Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 4:55:01 by Imran Shaukat KhanFormer WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has come out in rescue of his fellow Brit Amir Khan, who lost his WBA light welterweight title to Danny Garcia last Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Bolton man, who is more commonly known as King Khan, entered the ring a heavy favorite against Garcia but everyone was left flabbergasted when Garcia stopped Khan in the fourth round.
After the fight, IBF super middleweight champion, Carl Froch, suggested Khan to walk away from the sport. However, Haye doesn’t agree with Froch at all since he believes Khan will bounce back to defeat Garcia in a rematch.
The 25-year-old Khan was knocked down three times before the referee came in to stop the fight but Haye has insisted that it is all a part of boxing.
“Being only 25, I don’t believe there is any reason for him to retire,” Haye told talkSPORT. “I watched the fight and he was in full control. I believe he has got the beating of Garcia. Garcia is a very good opponent but he just got caught with a punch. That happens in boxing.
“Lennox Lewis, one of the greatest fighters of all time, got took out with one punch. It happens. Roberto Duran got knocked out by Thomas The Hitman [Hearns]. Did he retire after that? No, he came back and became world champion again.
“Amir can do it. It has happened to him before and he came back and became a much bigger, stronger boxer and I believe he will do that again. I’m fully backing him to not only come back from this but to beat Garcia in good fashion next time around.”
Well, all said and done, Amir Khan has also confirmed that he has no plans of hanging up his gloves and he will come back stronger than ever after the Holy month of Ramadan.
