All parties be consulted for caretaker setup

Lahore: (Wednesday, July 18, 2012) President Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif said here today that all parties including those not currently sitting in the parliament should be consulted for the caretaker setup.

The PML-N president said this while talking to the journalists after a party meeting. During his press briefing, commenting on the local bodies elections, Nawaz said that his was party was never against the local bodies elections,
rather it always supported them. However, it was the PPP that delayed them during its over four years’ tenure.

He was of the view that the local body elections should be conducted before the general elections.

Responding to a question about general elections and how parties would fair, Nawaz said that it remained to be seen as to who gives a tough time to whom.

Commenting on the NRO case which rendered the former PM Gilani disqualified for not writing the letter to the Swiss authorities, the PML-N President said that the constitution was supreme and that the court’s orders should be implemented
in letter and spirit regardless of how many prime ministers are rendered dismissed.

Responding to a question about the new Chief Election Commissioner, Nawaz said that Fekhruddin G Ebrahim was an honest man and it is expected of him to now to show any bias.
