Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in Afghanistan to meet Hamid Karzai, David Cameron

Thursday, July 19th, 2012 11:25:14 by

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf will leave for Afghanistan to hold talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai to find ways to ensure sustainable peace and security in the region.

The cross-border attack by militants will be high on the agenda between the two leaders of neighboring countries.

An official observed, “The Prime Minister is visiting Kabul Thursday where he will hold talks with President Hamid Karzai on issues related to peace and security in the region”. The Pakistani premier is visiting Kabul on the invitation of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, he added.

In his first trip to Afghanistan, Pervez Ashraf will raise the issue of strikes launched against security forces from cross the border. He will also urge the Afghan leadership to enhance security measures to prevent such attacks.

The point of concern is that whether Pakistani Taliban have regrouped in Afghanistan since escaping a military operation three years ago, as there has been a spurt in cross-border strikes in the past few weeks.

In a recent incident, Pakistanis security forces killed six militants in Chitral in a rebuffing cross-border incursion. Earlier, the Taliban abducted 17 Pakistani military personnel and later slaughtered in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan shares a disputed and unmarked 2,400-kilometre border with Pakistan, and the Taliban and other al Qaeda-linked militants have established safe hideouts on both sides.

The two countries regularly blame each other for a number of recent cross-border attacks that have killed dozens and displaced hundreds of families.

Besides the Afghan leadership, Raja Pervez Ashraf will also hold a one-on-one meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron. He is scheduled to attend a trilateral Pak-Afghan-UK meeting to discuss prospects of taking forward the peace process in the region.

According to the media reports, David Cameron is intended to guide decision on how fast United Kingdom will withdraw its forces from Afghanistan ahead of the 2014.

He is reportedly planned to urge Islamabad and Kabul to work together to achieve a secure and stable Afghanistan after the withdrawal of foreign forces.

PM Ashraf will also hold a meeting with Chairman High Peace Council Salahuddin Rabbani and leaders of Afghan National Front and Truth and Justice Party.

I think Pakistan always interfering in Afghanistan internal issue because they support Taliban indirectly. As I analyse regarding this issue for long time Pakistan never wants peace and stability in the Afghanistan because of their national benefit.
