Ford Focus Electric (2012): Full Review – Part 5
Friday, July 20th, 2012 7:26:28 by Usman KhalidThere are other technology gismos in the car that are quite substantial for a deal under $40,000. The car takes up the latest audio and video system from the market and the latest iteration of the central computer system, MyFord, in addition to the Sync service.
The connectivity is good for a car that big. It has all the required connections that a user may want when driving it. The user interface is quite easy-to-use.
The touch screen panel in the dashboard, its centre piece, has an attractive blue-ish interface and big buttons to interact with the system. The voice command system is better than the manual operations. For instance, playing a song from the USB source is quite a hassle manually that requires about five touch taps. On the other hand, a single command plays the same song with voice over.
Audio streaming over Bluetooth, A2DP, is a welcome addition to the Ford Focus Electric, however, the interface is quite limited. Moreover, it has iPod (which means iPhone and iPad as well) connectivity option. The new system also has satellite radio option and it plays with sheer quality.
Part of that excellence is due to enhanced audio system that is provided by Sony. The 10-speaker set that also has a sub-woofer and a centre channel reproduces good quality sound, great treble and substantial bass. For a hatchback it is a great sound package, much less for an electric car. The best thing about the music system is that does not tax the electric charge.
