European Universities Games: Vladimir Malkov topples Alexander Roovers in semi-final showdown

Tournament on Monday, July 16, in Spain.
Malkov, who was the top seeded player in the event, remained steady on court in semi-final battle and easily defeated his fifth seeded rival Roovers in a dominating manner.
Malkov remained on driving seat in the whole battle as he did not let his German rival to dominate the pace and ultimately emerged as the winner in a lopsided manner.
On the other hand, Roovers was helpless against the power play of his Russian rival as he failed to match the pace of the game and also failed to make an effective use of his strong points. He lost the battle without taking any game.
The higher ranked Malkov started to demonstrate his powerful shots from the starting points of opening game as he played with tremendous precision and face no trouble from his opponent.
The higher ranked Russian shuttler was in strong position on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute interval, Malkov spared no chance for Roovers to narrow the gap as he kept the pace high and did not miss any chance maintain pressure on his rival.
The top seeded Malkov remained positive and focused on court and easily took the first set with a striking 21-12 score on the board.
The in-form Malkov again showed his impressive skills on court as he dominated the pace of rallies at the initial stage of second game and also remained in commanding position on court.
Until the mid-game break in the second set, Malkov was going far ahead on the board.
After the 60-second break, the Russian player continued showing his remarkable skills and did not miss any chance to stretch his lead on the board.
Malkov was fully focused and quick on court and easily managed to snatch the second set in a sensational manner with a stunning margin of 21-9.
The aggressive Malkov ended up this title match in a one-sided fashion by putting up a staggering 21-12 and 21-9 margin on the score board.
