Nawaz Sharif vows to defend judiciary

Vowing to safeguard the superior judiciary, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Friday said his party will not allow the government to violate the Constitution and mock rulings of the Supreme Court.

Speaking to a delegation from Sindh, the former two-time premier observed, “We will not tolerate conspiracies hatched against the judiciary. The PML-N won’t allow rulers to make mockery of court verdicts and violate the constitution”.

In his view, the time had come for the rulers to pack their bags, saying that time was not far when the PML-N would bring revolutionary changes in the country.

The PML-N leader is currently is touring Sindh to strengthen his party in the province ruled by a coalition government comprised Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Earlier on Thursday, the former prime minister inked an agreement with Sindh United Front (SUF), making an election alliance to give impetus to his party in the upcoming polls.

Nawaz Sharif made it clear his party will never support division of Sindh, saying that distribution of water among provinces will be implemented in accordance with the 1991-formula if the PML-N got into power.

The former prime minister added that he will not hold any meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari thorough any backdoor channel.

He noted, “Zardari’s Sindh card has lost credit. I will conduct economic blasts if I come into power. My government had earlier conducted nuclear blasts and now would conduct economic blasts if a chance is given to us”.

The  people of Sindh likewise other Pakistanis also wanted economic revolution, he added saying that he took revolutions steps during his last term in power and would go for economic exposition this time around.

He added, “The PPP should not chalk out a law in haste only to protect a handful of people. It should sit across a table with us and other parties and prepare a law through collective wisdom”.

The former premier of the country was of the opinion democracy was being dealt through chalking out contempt of court laws, saying that the amendment was made to give right to rulers to make fun of the judiciary.
