Securifi Almond WiFi Router (2012): Full Review – Part 1

The current time is for the dual-band wireless systems and gigabit support, long range and minimal to zero data drop. Securifi’s new router called Almond is one clever move made.
By the looks and size of the device, it can easily be called the future router of the post-PC era that will mostly be dominated by tablets. Securifi, it seems, has taken to the matter seriously. The new router is small and has all the controls on a small but large for the size of the device LCD that has its own interface.
Though it lacks true dual-band capabilities, it has some easy features on a single display. The basic functions can be done on the display. However, for advanced settings, the user may need web-based application that is a turnoff for those who do not have Windows-based PC, however, more on that later.
The signal is powerful but the range is short and the price at $80 is quite high. There are many router in the market that are around the same price and have dual-band capabilities, in addition to strong signal.
The Securifi Almond doesn’t look like a router at all, but rather an alarm clock, and due to its compact size and its, well, alarm clock type of shape it is small for routers and a little oversized for alarm clock.
