Vitali Klitschko vs David Haye possible: Bernard Boente

Bernard Boente, who is considered as the man behind the Klitschko brothers’ success, has admitted that he was impressed by David Haye’s fifth round knockout win over Dereck Chisora last Saturday at the West Ham Upton Park Stadium in east London.

Haye, former WBA heavyweight champion, suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko, the current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring heavyweight champion, last year and he walked away from the sport after Wladimir refused to give him a rematch.

Since then this was Haye’s first outing and he has said that he would like to take on the current WBC heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko, who is currently set to face Manuel Charr in September.

Many out there reckon a clash between Haye and Vitali will not take place since the Ukrainian giant has plans to join politics in October.

However, Boente doesn’t rule out the possibility of a clash at some stage because he reckons a fight between Vitali and Haye would certainly draw a huge crowd.

“I can’t foresee the future,” Boente told Ringside. “We have to wait and see for September 8 and then the elections, but down the road let’s see.

“It could be Vitali, it could be Wladimir some time next year. At this moment, promotion-wise, I think that fight makes no sense after one year, but let’s see. David is definitely a flashy person, a personality and he is always in the media, so why not?

“We are all in an entertainment business and I’m sure that the Vitali versus David fight would be a thrilling fight, an interesting fight and would definitely be the fight the boxing world wants to see.”

Haye desperately wanted a rematch with Wladimir in order to avenge his defeat but Boente thinks setting up a fight with Wladimir is not easy.

“Without any doubt,” he added. “I would not even rule out a rematch between Wladimir and David down the road, but at this moment it makes no sense because Wladimir’s win was clear.”

Well, all said and done, let’s see if David Haye really sets up a Vitali Klitschko fight.
