Stolen medicines seized in Gujranwala
Sunday, July 22nd, 2012 12:16:28 by Fayyaz YaseenLahore: A Punjab Health Department team has seized stolen government medicines worth millions of rupees from a truck stand in Gujranwala. After taking the truck in its custody, that team has started investigations.
Telling details of this raid, the Director General Health Punjab Dr. Nisar Ahmed Cheema said that on a tip-off, that the medicines were concealed in a stand in Gujranwala, a special raiding team, consisting of Director Pharmacy
Punjab Ayyaz Ali Khan, District Officer Health Gujranwala, Dr. Mahjabeen and Area Drugs Inspector Ahmed Tariq which, was formed with the help of which along with the local police and EDO Health Gujranwala conducted a raid and taken the stolen medicines into
custody.
Dr Cheema, while sharing the details, told that a preliminary investigation revealed the medicines had been booked from Lahore, and some of these medicines were bearing stamp of Lahore General Hospital and some medicines were bearing
stamp of District Government Gujranwala or Government property.
Dwelling onto the next steps the government intends to take in order to reach to the miscreants, Cheema said that a high level inquiry committee was being constituted to investigate the scam of stolen government medicines.
