Subrata Pal has been given a chance to make his mark at Redbull Leipzig and he intends to take it with both hands.

The Indian International won the hearts of the nation and gathered some plaudits along the way for his performances in last year’s AFC Cup.

Red Bull India have taken notice of his talents and have sent him abroad to Germany for a trial.

“This trial is not only for Leipzig. We have clubs and academies in Austria, USA (where Thierry Henry plays), Brazil and Ghana. So, there is a possibility of getting a contract from any of our other clubs also,” said Rohan Vyavaharkar, the company’s national
communications manager.

However his current club have ruled out the possibility of him signing for the foreign team, at least until he completes one year of his deal in India.

“There is no such clause that he can leave now and join a foreign club. We have granted him leave to train in Germany for two weeks but he can only sign for a foreign team after the first year,” said Siddhartha Bhattacharya, a director at United SC.
