Frank Warren: Amir Khan’s career will be a hard job to rebuild!

Boxing promoter Frank Warren, who is managing former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora for the past seven years, believes Amir Khan has not learned anything from his Hall of Fame trainer coach Freddie Roach, who also trains the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

The Bolton man, who is more commonly known as King Khan, lost his WBA title to Danny Garcia on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan entered the fight as a heavy favorite against Garcia but due to his poor defence his opponent knocked him down three times in the ring before securing a TKO win over him.

After the fight Khan claimed that a lot of travelling was behind his lacklustre performance but Warren doesn’t think so.

While speaking on his inclusion, Warren stated Khan has now been defeated two times in a row and both times he has been defeated by the underdogs. Warren thinks now Khan will have to do a lot in order to rebuild his career.

Warren told BoxingScene.com, “Despite nearly four years under trainer Freddie Roach it seems he hasn’t learnt to fight on the inside and his defence, as I’ve said numerous times, is still a major concern. Marcos Maidana had him rocking all over the ring and although Lamont Peterson wasn’t a massive puncher he was finding it too easy to hit Khan.”

He said, “Khan started well against Garcia and was using his speed and combination punching, but then a big left hook from Garcia detonated on Khan in the third and he went down heavily just like he did against Breidis Prescott four years earlier. He did well to survive the round, but he didn’t recover in the break and was dropped twice more in the fourth with the referee stopping it and Khan protesting.”

He remarked, “There’s no doubt that Khan, like Chisora, has a big fighting heart, but his career is now going to be a hard job to rebuild.”

Let’s wait and watch how Amir Khan responds to Frank Warren.
