Fake Passport Scandal, FIA arrests 13 suspects

Lahore: (Tuesday, July 24, 2012) After the fake passport scandal has prevailed, the Federal Investigation Agency, reacting to the situation on time, has kicked off its investigations and has arrested 13 more suspects here today.

In today’s development, the FIA raided a NADRA office in Baghbanpura and arrested six individuals including five women. The arrested women, however, were later on released on bail.

Prior to this, two NADRA employees and four travel agents were also arrested.

Moreover, the interior ministry, after initial investigations, have suspended five employees of the Passport office in Garden Town including one high official (Deputy Director) and later on arrested them.

However, the central character of this entire episode, Abid Chaudhry, has gone underground. While talking to the journalists, Abid’s family told the reporters that he feared for his life, but he will appear before the court if
summoned.
